HONDA CIVIC TOUR
The 'Honda Civic Tour' is an annual concert tour, sponsored by Honda Motor Company. It has been running since 2001. Each year the headling band/bands customize a Honda Civic. Concert goers enter their information into a random drawing to try and win the car.
The first leg was headed by Blink182 with supporting bands Alkaline Trio, No Motiv, Sum 41, The Ataris. A second leg was headlined by Everclear and the supporting bands where American Hi-Fi, Head Automatica and The Mayfield Four.
Incubus headlined the 2002 year playing 47 shows. Supporting bands included Hoobastank and Phantom Planet.
New Found Glory, Good Charlotte, Hot Rod Circuit, Less Than Jake, MXPX, Stretch Armstrong and The Disasters all hit the stage for the 2003 Honda Civic Tour
Dashboard Confesional headed the tour for the 2004 year. Bands such as Thrice, The Get Up Kids, Val Emmerich, and Motion City Soundtrack also graced the stage.
2005 was headlined by Maroon 5 and supporting bands were Phantom Planet, The Donnas and The Thrills
This instantiation began in April 2006, wherein The Black Eyed Peas hit the road as the featured headliner for the 6th Annual tour, with supporting bands Flipsyde and The Pussycat Dolls.
The 2007 tour, the seventh edition, features Fall Out Boy, +44, The Academy Is..., Cobra Starship, and Paul Wall.
"The purpose of this tour is to promote awareness of the more fuel efficient Honda Civic also to promote global awareness of greenhouse gases," said Pete Wentz, bassist of Fall Out Boy.
The tour is working with Reverb, a non-profit environmental organization.[1]
The tour, previously scheduled to start April 18, was delayed due to personal reasons.[2][3]
Before +44 played "Dammit" on Pete Wentz's birthday, Mark Hoppus threw Pete's bass into the nearby water. When Fall Out Boy was playing the same day, Pete threw Mark's bass into the water before playing.
