HYMEN RECORDS
'Hymen Records' is an imprint of the Ant-Zen record label, founded in 1997. Hymen mainly releases material of a technoid, power noise/rhythmic noise, dark ambient, IDM, breakcore or similar experimental electronic nature.
Artists that have released music on the imprint include Imminent, Beefcake, Esplendor Geométrico, P.A.L, Architect, Converter, Snog, Scorn, Somatic Responses, Venetian Snares, Hecate and Gridlock.
Hymen uses a specific catalogue numbering scheme to denote the type of release, with ¥0xx for the 12" series with stamps on the cover, ¥4xx for LPs, CD3#, ¥6xx for promotional gimmicks such as t-shirts, posters, etc, and ¥7xx for CDs.
★ ¥002, Instinctive LP by Ultra Instinct (Raoul Roucka of Noisex and Anja X), will never be released.
★ ¥707, "third mall from the sun" CD by Snog, was banned in Australia due to its cover artwork (a hyperrealistic painting by Chris Woods).
★ ¥731, Nymphomatriarch is composed entirely from sounds of Aaron Funk (Venetian Snares) and Rachael Kozak (Hecate) having sex, and received much media attention, including Playboy and one of David Letterman's opening monologues.
