The main systems prevelant in the Indian philosophies are Dvaita,Advaita and vishista-advaita though there are 21 schools of thought. These schools mainly deal with the literature in sanskrit like the vedas,puranas, bhagavadgita,ramayana etc for discussing the general code of ethics and to lead a way of life by performing various rituals and attain 'moksa'. 'moksa itself is defined differently in different schools and but the means is same. 1 can find wonderful thoughts on problems faced by people and it's solutions in the sacred texts like the mahabharata and the subsequent schools mentioned above have give different interpretations to the 'brahmasutras' or the formulae to learn the vedas, each school has a diverse view on these sutras and by knowing the same one can enrich his knowledge about the various aspects in philosophy and errors in thought when approaching a problem. The Indian school of thought has won great laurels for it's originality and reach. Modern philosophers also draw a lot from these works on logic and analysis. It is indeed heartning to see a lot of interest in the west in Indian philosophy and a lot of people and organisations are working to spread these works in english.
