'Inola' is a town in Rogers County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,589 at the 2000 census. Inola styles itself as "The Hay Capital of the World."
Inola is located at (36.133182, -95.523938).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 17.1 km² (6.6 mi²). 16.9 km² (6.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it (0.91%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,589 people, 604 households, and 431 families residing in the town. The population density was 93.8/km² (242.9/mi²). There were 635 housing units at an average density of 37.5/km² (97.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 80.87% White, 0.63% African American, 11.33% Native American, 0.31% Asian, 0.13% from other races, and 6.73% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.63% of the population.
There were 604 households out of which 40.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.5% were married couples living together, 15.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.6% were non-families. 25.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.03.
In the town the population was spread out with 30.1% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 29.4% from 25 to 44, 18.8% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 87.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.4 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $31,351, and the median income for a family was $36,000. Males had a median income of $31,528 versus $21,384 for females. The per capita income for the town was $15,610. About 12.6% of families and 13.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 18.1% of those under age 18 and 13.3% of those age 65 or over.

The Black Fox Nuclear Power Plant was a nuclear power plant proposed by the Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) in May 1973. The facility was to be built approximately 12 miles outside of Inola, Oklahoma, and encompass the use of two General Electric (GE) Boiling Water Reactors. While PSO initially wooed the citizens of Inola with the promises of economic growth and better schools, after disasters at both the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant and the Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station, the people became disillusioned with the idea of housing such a facility in their backyards. After nine years of court battles, the decision was abandoned in 1982 and no complex would be built. However, the Oklahoma Corporation Commission (OCC) allowed PSO to pass their losses onto PSO consumers with a rate hike to replace the money lost.It has been recently been suggested again.
