BGM-109 Tomahawk Land Attack Missile (TLAM)
The Tomahawk Land Attack Missile (TLAM) is a long-range, all-weather, subsonic cruise missile. Introduced by General Dynamics in the 1970s, it was designed as a medium- to long-range, low-altitude missile that could be launched from a submerged submarine. It has been improved several times and, by way of corporate divestitures and acquisitions, is now made by Raytheon. Some Tomahawks were also manufactured by McDonnell Douglas. There have been several variants of the BGM-109 Tomahawk employing various types of warheads. The operational versions include the unitary conventional land attack TLAM-C, the bomblet-dispensing land attack TLAM-D, the nuclear land attack TLAM-A and TLAM-N, and the Tomahawk Anti-Ship Missile (TASM). Ground Launch Cruise Missiles (GLCM) and their truck-like launch vehicles were destroyed to comply with the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. The Block III TLAMs that entered service in 1993 can fly farther and use Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers to strike more precisely. Block IV TLAMs have a better Digital Scene Matching Area Correlator (DSMAC) system as well as improved turbojet engines. The WR-402 engine provided the new BLK III with a throttle control, allowing in-flight speed changes. This engine also provided better fuel economy. The Block IV Phase II TLAMs have better deep-strike capabilities and are equipped with a real-time targeting system for striking moving targets.

PS22 Chorus "Van Diemen's Land" by U2 (The Edge)
http://ps22chorus.blogspot.com This is a song by U2 we used in our PS22 original musical, Sandy Ground: Flowers Of The Sand. The only lyrics we changed were the words in the title. Sandy Ground is the oldest, still surviving, community of freed African-American slaves, and its located in our hometown of Staten Island. The PS22 Chorus is not a middle, intermediate, or high school group. It is comprised of about 70 public elementary school fifth graders from New York City. Visit our above website for more!
116th 1993 - Russell, Reed, Sorenson & Melton
116th Street NE Marysville, WA. In the early and mid 90's this was possibly the most popular place accessable to the public north of Seattle to do some motocross practice. Winters were especially good riding here. As you see on the video, it had a lot of sand which meant sweet whoop sections and hellacious berms everywhere. A person could go out there almost any time during the week and ride with pro and intermediate level riders. Located on reservation land, it was never completely legal to ride there, but for many years police and the land managers tolerated ORV use. As the area grew in popularity it gained the attention of the media, who began running exaggerated stories about the environmental damage that the ORVs were doing. The news proclaimed that locals called this riding area "the pit" for dramatic effect. Eventually, it got enough attention that the police ticketed anyone for riding there and it was abandoned by the ORVs. Ironically, there is big four lane access road to a casino and outlet mall that goes right through the middle of where these guys were riding. You would never even know it was a riding area anymore, the Alder trees that cover every square inch of open ground are almost 30 feet tall now. In the video, Joe, Davy, Carl and Justin are enjoying a nice summer evening pounding sand whoops and slamming sand berms. Makes me feel like it was only yesterday.
ESA's Intermediate eXperimental Vehicle
Presented by http://collectSPACE.com -- The Source for Space History and Artifacts. In 2012, Vega will carry ESA's Intermediate eXperimental Vehicle into space. The vehicle will then return to Earth to test a range of enabling systems and technologies for atmospheric re-entry. The video shows computer-generated animations of the vehicle and its mission. The IXV project objectives are the design, development, manufacturing, and on-ground and in-flight verification of an autonomous European lifting and aerodynamically controlled re-entry system. Among the critical technologies of interest, special attention is being paid to: *advanced instrumentation for aerodynamics and aerothermodynamics *thermal protection and hot-structures solutions *guidance, navigation and flight control through a combination of jets and aerodynamic flaps IXV will be launched in 2012 from Europe's spaceport at Kourou, French Guiana, using the new Vega small launch vehicle. After re-entering the Earth's atmosphere and being slowed down by air drag, IXV will descend by parachute and land in the Pacific Ocean to await recovery and post-flight analysis. Video credit: ESA
