'Internet Brands' is a company based in El Segundo, California which operates online media, community, and e-commerce sites. The company was founded in 1998 as CarsDirect.com and, reflecting its growth and diversification, changed its name in 2005. Internet Brands is a subsidiary of Idealab.
On July 20, 2007, Internet Brands filed an S-1, announcing its intention to offer an IPO worth up to $100 million.

On July 11, 2007 Internet Brands announced its acquisition of ApartmentRatings.com, based in Austin, Texas.

On July 4, 2007 Jelsoft Enterprises Limited announced that it was acquired by Internet Brands. Jelsoft will continue to operate business as usual, using Internet Brands vast resources to further development of commercial web software and the vBulletin product suite.^[3]
