IOWA HIGHWAY 173
'Iowa Highway 173' is a highway in western Iowa. It is a north-south highway which runs for 15 miles.

Its southern terminus is at Iowa Highway 83 near Atlantic. Its northern terminus is in Kimballton at an intersection with Iowa Highway 44.
Route Description
Iowa Highway 173 begins three miles northwest of Atlantic at an intersection with Iowa Highway 83. It proceeds north for five miles, then intersects Interstate 80. It continues north from there into Elk Horn, then proceeds north into Kimballton, where it ends at an intersection with Iowa Highway 44.
History
When the highway was created in 1930, it was originally numbered Iowa Highway 169, and it only went between Elk Horn and Kimballton. Later in 1930, U.S. Route 169 was created and the highway number was changed to 173. In 1980, the highway was extended south from Elk Horn to meet Iowa Highway 83.[2]
