The 'St. Louis, Iron Mountain, and Southern Railway Company' was a railroad that operated from St. Louis, Missouri to Texarkana as well as southeast Missouri during the late 19th century.
The line which was established initially to deliver iron ore from Iron Mountain, Missouri to St. Louis was robbed by the James-Younger Gang and the Dalton Gang
The train also went by the names of 'St. Louis Iron Mountain & Southern, SLIMS,' or the 'Iron Mountain Railway'.
A Short-line railroad of the name serves tourists in Jackson, Missouri.
The train was robbed on January 31, 1874 by the James-Younger Gang at Gad's Hill, Missouri and on November 3, 1893 at Olyphant, Arkansas by the Dalton Gang.
In 1883 it was part of 9,547 miles of railroad lines controlled by Jay Gould.
In 1917 it was became part of the Missouri Pacific Railroad (which in turn became part of the Union Pacific Railroad).
