 | "The Ark" by Andrew Mayles This is the first song that I ever wrote. The song takes you through a Biblical understanding of God's justice. During the time of Noah, the Earth had been filled with such great wickedness that God grieved ever having made mankind. This wickedness is referred to as sin and is incompatible with God's nature. Therefore sin is an offense against God--a willing choice to reject and push God away. However, God grants mercy--not overlooking these offenses, but rather postponing justice. Justice can be transferred to Jesus Christ through faith in Him, or its penalty rest on you. A single sin's penalty is death (Romans 6:23, James 2:10), so the grace that is given through faith in Jesus Christ is the payment of your death penalty, allowing you to spend eternity with God (Heaven) rather than in eternal punishment (Hell). Just as Noah through faith in God's ark was saved from the wrath of God in the Flood, so too are we saved from God's just hand through faith in Christ Jesus. In this song, I praise God for his justice--that He is a holy, righteous, impartial judge who also was willing to sacrifice His own son for the redemption of those who would put their faith and trust in Him. I also continue to ask God to pour out his mercy and grace on me and on others, that all may come to a saving knowledge of God through Jesus. This song is a personal proclamation that I will seek God and proclaim the Truth in boldness. I hope and pray that this song encourages you in your faith and moves you to action with regards to openly proclaiming the truth of God's perfect love for others, exemplified by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. |
