Misawa 1959 F-86 Sabre
Misawa Air Base (三沢飛行場, Misawa Hikōjō?) (IATA: MSJ, ICAO: RJSM) is a United States air base located on the northeastern shores of Honshū, in the city of Misawa in Aomori Prefecture, in the Tōhoku Region of Japan. The base is home to 5,200 US military personnel, as well as 350 US civilian employees and 900 Japanese national employees. Misawa is the only combined, joint service installation in the western Pacific. It houses all four US military services (Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines) as well as the Japan Air Self Defense Force. Misawa also has scheduled civilian flights operated by Japan Airlines to Tokyo International Airport (Haneda), Osaka International Airport (Itami) and New Chitose Airport, making it one of the few joint civilian-military airports in the U.S. defense grid. The Misawa Passive Radio Frequency space surveillance site is used for tracking satellites using the signals they transmit. It also provides coverage of geosynchronous satellites using the Deep Space Tracking System (DSTS). It is one of the largest ECHELON ground stations. The American occupation of Misawa began in September 1945. Later, Army engineers restored the base for future use by the United States Army Air Forces. During the Korean War and Vietnam War Misawa supported fighter missions. The base was the launching point for clandestine surveillance overflights into China and the USSR during the 1950s. Misawa's fighters departed in 1972. In 1983 it was a major deployment site for rescue and recovery operations, following the downing of Korean Air Flight 007. On July 4, 1985, fighters returned to Misawa. The North American F-86 Sabre (sometimes called the Sabrejet) was a transonic combat aircraft developed for the US Air Force. The F-86 was developed in the 1940s following the end of World War II and was one of the most-produced western jet fighters in the Cold War era.By the end of hostilities, F-86 pilots claimed to have shot down 792 MiGs for a loss of only 76 Sabres, a victory ratio of 10 to 1 (but now appears to be closer to 4 to 1 with postwar totals offically credited by the USAF at 379 kills for 103 Sabres lost). Nonetheless, in the hands of skillful pilots, the Sabre's kill ratio over the MiG-15 was impressive. Of the 40 pilots to earn the designation of "ace" (five or more kills) during the Korean war, all but one flew the F-86 Sabre. The F-86 entered service with the United States Air Force in 1949, joining the 1st Fighter Wing's 94th Fighter Squadron "Hat-in-the-Ring" and became the primary air-to-air jet fighter used in the Korean War. With the introduction of the Soviet Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 into air combat in November 1950, in which it out-performed all aircraft then assigned to the United Nations, three squadrons of F-86s were rushed to the Far East in December. The F-86 could out turn and out dive the MiG-15, but the MiG-15 was slightly superior to the F-86 in ceiling, acceleration, rate of climb, and zoom (until the introduction of the F-86F in 1953)and flown from bases in Manchuria by Soviet VVS pilots, was pitted against two squadrons of the 4th Fighter-Interceptor Wing forward-based at K-14, Kimpo, Korea. * Crew: 1 * Length: 37 ft 6 in (11.4 m) * Wingspan: 37 ft 1 in (11.3 m) * Height: 14 ft 8 in (4.5 m) * Wing area: ft² (m²) * Empty weight: lb (kg) * Loaded weight: 13,791 lb (6,300 kg) * Powerplant: 1× General Electric J47 turbojet, 5,200 lbf (24 kN) * Zero-lift drag coefficient: 0.0132 * Drag area: 3.8 ft² (0.35 m²) * Aspect ratio: 4.78 * Maximum speed: 685 mph (595 knots, 1,100 km/h) * Range: 1,200 mi (1,000 nm, 1,900 km) * Service ceiling: 49,000 ft (14,900 m) * Rate of climb: 7,250 ft/min (36.8 m/s) * Thrust/weight: 0.38 * Lift-to-drag ratio: 15.1 * Time to altitude: 6.3 min to 30,000 ft (9,145 m) (C)Steve conley
Messerschmitt BF108
The Treaty of Versailles eliminated military aviation in Germany. To counteract that treaty, Germany found clever ways to prepare a resurgent air force, via such mechanisms as supporting extensive glider training and engaging in civil air transport development, which was permitted after 1922, as well as by establishing a clandestine base at Lipetsk, in the Soviet Union, that enabled the Germans to test new military designs and train a nucleus of highly skilled flyers while providing training for the Soviet Air Force. While that hidden effort proceeded apace, the German government carefully gathered together the many strands of entrepreneurial airline formation into one, tightly controlled and focused entity, Deutsche Luft Hansa Aktiengesellschaft (German Air Union Incorporated) Luft Hansa. Despite Allied efforts to totally eradicate German aircraft manufacture, the then illegal development of civilian transports was encouraged by no less than General Billy Mitchell, who induced Professor Junkers to continue building his newly designed F.13 transport, which had first flown three days before the signing of the Versailles Treaty, ordering the first 6 for the United States. Similarly, unnamed American and Japanese interests approached Ernst Heinkel in 1920 for one of his designs for an aircraft that could be carried on a submarine. Heinkel began secretly building that aircraft in a plant at Travemunde, in complete violation of the treaty. Once Germany was permitted, after 1922, to resume the manufacture of commercial aircraft, a door opened, through which an army of gifted aircraft designers rushed, creating aircraft that could, almost with the push of a button, convert from civilian/commercial use to military. One of the bright examples of that process was the Messerschmitt Bf 108 design, a record-breaking sports aircraft which would be used as the basis of the premiere German fighter plane of World War II, the Bf 109. Messerschmitt refined its design for the M 35 2-seat aerobatic plane into the M 37 (later re-designated the Bf 108) specifically for competition in the 4th Challenge de Tourisme Internationale of 1934. The M 37 prototype flew first in spring of 1934. Still a two-seat aircraft, it was powered by a 250hp Hirth HM 8U inverted-V piston engine, which drove a 3-blade propeller. Although it did not win the competition, which favored lighter aircraft, the M 37's performance made it a popular choice for record flights. Soon after the first production aircraft began to roll off the assembly line in Augsburg, several Bf 108s had set new endurance records, one of which led to its "christening." German aviatrix Elly Beinhorn flew a Bf 108A, named "Taifun" (typhoon) from Berlin to Constantinople in one day, an accomplishment that led Messerschmitt to apply the name "Taifun" to all subsequent production models of the Bf 108. The 2-seat aircraft was impressive enough to promote the design's evolution into a four-seat touring aircraft that was also well-suited for military communication, liaison and ambulance roles. Other changes incorporated in the Bf 108B included the replacement of a tailskid with a tailwheel, and a different powerplant, the 240 hp Argus As 8C inverted-V piston engine, which drove a 2-blade propeller. Most of the 885 Bf 108 aircraft manufactured were of this version, which was built first by Messerschmitt and later by Societe Nationale de Constructions Aeronautiques du Nord, in France, during and after the war. There was one Bf 108C, a conversion from the standard Bf 108 that used, instead, a 400hp Hirth HM 512 inverted-V piston engine. There was also a Me 208 variation, which modified the Bf 108 design into a tricycle gear aircraft. The first two Me 208s were built by Nord during WWII. After the war, Nord built the Bf 108 as the Nord N.1000 "Pingouin" (penguin) and the Me 208 as the Nordalpha and Ramier ("Woodpigeon") series, based on the Renault 6Q or Potez 6 piston engines. A record breaker when it was introduced 66 years ago, the Bf 108's performance is still impressive by contemporary personal sports-plane standards.
Cynthia Witthoft - Crocodile Holocaust
Artist: "Cynthia Witthoft" Song: "Crocodile Holocaust" Album: "Last Recordings Before My Suicide (2008)" The larger species of crocodiles are very dangerous to humans. The main danger that crocodiles pose is not their ability to run after a person but their ability to strike before the person can react. The Saltwater and Nile Crocodiles are the most dangerous, killing hundreds of people each year in parts of south-east Asia and Africa. Mugger crocodiles and possibly the endangered Black Caiman, are also very dangerous to humans. American alligators are less aggressive and rarely assault humans without provocation. The most deaths in a single crocodile attack incident may have occurred during the Battle of Ramree Island, on February 19, 1945, in Burma. Nine hundred soldiers of an Imperial Japanese Army unit, in an attempt to retreat from the Royal Navy and rejoin a larger battalion of the Japanese infantry, crossed through ten miles of mangrove swamps which contained Saltwater Crocodiles. Twenty Japanese soldiers were captured alive by the British, and almost five hundred are known to have escaped Ramree. Many of the remainder may have been eaten by the crocodiles, although gunfire from the British troops was undoubtedly a contributory factor. Mosquitos aside, crocodiles are the leading cause of animal related deaths as of 2001. Since 1990, many people have been killed by crocodiles throughout Southeast Asia and Australia. In February 1982, an Iban village headman. On May 22, 1992, an Iban girl, Dayang anak Bayang was killed by Bujang Senang at Pelaban River, another tributary of the great Batang Lupar River near Lingga in Sri Aman Division, Sarawak, Malaysia. The killer crocodile was shot to death by several police sharpshooters and Iban hunters after a four-hour ordeal. It was the biggest and oldest crocodile ever caught in the area. On March 19, 2006, University of Washington medical professor Richard Root, age 68, who had moved to alleviate a shortage of physicians, was killed on a wildlife tour of the Limpopo River when a crocodile emerged from the river, grabbed Dr. Root and pulled him under. In September 2005, Russell Harris, a 37-year-old British engineer, was killed by a large saltwater crocodile while snorkeling off Picnic Beach in Australia [2]. His body was recovered. In August 2005, a 60-year-old man was dragged underwater by a crocodile in northeastern Australia. In October 2002, 23-year old German student Isobel von Jordan was killed by a saltwater crocodile in Kakadu National Park, Australia. In April 2002, 35-year-old British musician Richard Shadwell was killed by a crocodile in Borneo. Another relatively famous, or infamous, crocodile hails from the Rusizi River and has been named Gustave. Estimated to exceed 6 meters (20 feet) in length, and to weigh in excess of 1 ton (2,000 lbs, or 900 kg) Gustave has been credited with killing some 300 people, though this is most likely an exaggeration. Numerous capture attempts have been made, including using a massive bear trap in 2002, however Gustave has managed to evade capture. Gustave is the basis of the film Primeval (originally titled "Gustave"), which follows a news team sent to Burundi to capture Gustave; while doing so they become the target of a warlord in the midst of an African civil war.

1942 'Battle Of Los Angeles'
Five years before Roswell, five years before pilot Kenneth Arnold's landmark sightings of "flying saucers" in the Pacific Northwest, 3 years before the Battle of the Bulge, two years before D-Day, and years before the so-called "modern UFO era" had officially begun, there was the Battle of Los Angeles, arguably the most sensational, dramatic UFO mass encounter on record. Have you ever heard of the Battle of Los Angeles? Few have. Imagine a visiting spacecraft from another world, or dimension, hovering over a panicked and blacked-out LA in the middle of the night just weeks after Pearl Harbor at the height of WWII fear and paranoia. Imagine how this huge ship, assumed to be some unknown Japanese aircraft, was then attacked as it hung, nearly stationary, over Culver City and Santa Monica by dozens of Army anti-aircraft batteries firing nearly 2,000 rounds of 12 pound, high explosive shells in full view of hundreds of thousands of residents. Imagine all of that and you have an idea of what was the Battle of Los Angeles. The sudden appearance of the enormous round object triggered all of LA and most of Southern California into an immediate wartime blackout with thousands of Air Raid Wardens scurrying all over the darkened city while the drama unfolded in the skies above... a drama which would result in the deaths of six people and the raining of shell fragments on homes, streets, and buildings for miles around. Dozens of gun crews and searchlights of the Army's 37th Coast Artillery Brigade easily targeted the huge ship which hung like a surreal magic lantern in the clear, dark winter sky over the City of the Angels. Few in the city were left asleep after the Coastal Defense gunners commenced firing hundreds and hundreds of rounds up toward the glowing ship which was apparently first sighted as it hovered above such west side landmarks as the MGM studios in Culver City. The thump of the batteries and the ignition of the aerial shells reverberated from one end of LA to the other as the gun crews easily landed scores of what many termed "direct hits"....all to no avail. Here now, is what the night skies of LA looked like at the height of the firing.... http://www.rense.com/ufo/battleofLA.htm http://brumac.8k.com/BATTLEOFLA/BOLA1.html
KOREAN HISTORY : THE HISTORY OF THE HAN
우리 한의 일어남은 가장 오래되었다 THE HISTORY OF THE HAN, KOREAN HISTORY Korean always call themselves Hangere(Hanminjok), not the english word Korean, and the word Korea was derived from the name of a country that was founded by the Han. Han means Korean, gere means tribe/race in the native Korean language. Therefore, Hangere means Korean people. Daehanminguk(Hanguk) is the official name of the Republic of Korea. It means The Great Han People's Nation. VIDEO DESCRIPTION Panaru Hanin (00:30~00:37) His name is Abaji. It's also called Abai in northern Korea. Today, Abaji means father in the native Korean language. The founder of the Kitan Empire(916~1125 AD) also called himself Abaji(Abogi, Apaochi). All these words were derived from Abaji Hanin. Ciw Kuri's Han succeeded Baktar (00:50~00:53) Chiwoo is one of the Great Han of Baktar(Baedal), God of War, and the symbol of Korean national soccer team supporters today. The ruins of ancient Korea (01:25~01:36) The paintings are tomb murals of Korean Koguri dynasty. The Great Victory of Salsu River : Koguri-Su War (01:40~01:44) More than a million troops of the Su dynasty invaded Korean Koguri dynasty(612 AD), but they were delayed at the Lyodong fortress for several months. What is worse, three hundred thousand troops of them were killed at the battle of Salsu River and only thousands of troops returned to their base. Jusin founded Kim dynasty (02:23~02:27) Jusin is also called Jurijin/Jurchen/Ruzhen/Sushen. Aguta who founded the 1st Kim dynasty(1115~1234 AD) is Jusin of Korean extraction. According to the history book, he is the 8th lineal descendant of Kim Hambo, Korean. Bakuhu gained control over Japan (02:27~02:31) Bakuhu ruled over Japanese Islands for hundreds of years. And Japanese kings were nothing but their puppet during the time. Kori-Mongol War (02:31~02:34) The Mongols invaded Korea in 1231 and fought with Korean for 30 years, but they couldn't conquer Korea in the end. Kori made peace with Mongol, and the prince got married to Khubilai Han's daughter. (02:34~02:42) Koriyang = Korean Wave in Mongol Mongolpung = Mongols Fashion in Korea The founding of Josun (02:43~02:46) Korean Josun dynasty was established in 1392. Imjin War : Josun-Bakuhu War (02:58~03:06) Korean main weapons were cannon and bow, Japanese main weapons were matchlock gun and sword. (Korea is the first to use cannon in the naval battle in 1380.) The Imjin War(1592~1598 AD) threw the Northeastern Asia into utter confusion. As the result of the Imjin War, the Josun-Jusin War broke out in Korea, Toyotomi's Bakuhu was exterminated in Japan, Chinese Ming dynasty was conquered by the Jusin(Manjurian). Imjin War was first use of Iron-Clad Warships, the Western nickname is Turtle Ship. Admiral Yi used superior Artillery technology and leadership to win all 23 of his naval engagements without ever losing a single ship while sinking hundreds of Japanese ships. Thank you, EasternKnight!! Jusin conquered China (03:06~03:10) Nurhachi founded the 2nd Kim dynasty(1616 AD), it was renamed Chung dynasty(1636 AD), Jusin called themselves Manju(Manchus). After the conquering of China(1644 AD), China became one part of Manjurian Empire for hundreds of years. According to the history book written by the Manjurian, Korean and Manjurian share the same history. The Japanese annexation of Korea (03:10~03:17) The 1919 Independence Movement (03:17~03:21) Japan annexed Josun dynasty by force in 1910. After that time, March 1st Movement took place in 1919. When Josun was occupied by Japan, various volunteer armies for national independence rose in arms, on the other hand, March 1st Movement developed in all part of the country in 1919. As the result of the movement, the war of independence grew more and more furious. HISTORY AND USEFUL INFORMATION: HAN DYNASTY AND HAN CHINESE The word Han dynasty was named by the conqueror, not Chinese. According to the history book, Han dynasty was originally a vassal of the West Cho(西楚) empire which was founded by Hang Woo(項羽) the Namman(southern strangers). When Hang Woo finished conquering of China, Han dynasty was named by the emperor and King Lyu Bang was crownd by the emepror. The word Han Chinese was derived from Han dynasty. Therefore, the word Han Chinese began to appear in China around 200 BC. It's not an ethnic group. It means Chinese are not Han. The word Han Chinese was created by the conqueror in 206 BC. There is no comparison between Han and Han Chinese. ADDITIONAL HISTORY: THE CHINESE WAR OF INDEPENDENCE (1) Chinese declared independence from the Manjurian Empire in 1912, but they were subdued by the military clique of empire. (2) Republic of China was founded by the Nationalist Party of China in 1925, and finally occupied Peking(Beijing) in 1928. (3) PR_China was founded by the Chinese Communists in 1950. Hara Kiri in Admiralties! 1944/3/27
1) Hara Kiri in Admiralties "General MacArthur stated to his troops in the Admiralties 'it is imperative that we hold this position against any attack.' We watch LST boats, bristling with Yanks, scrape to a stop at water's adge, in Los Negros. Supporting their advance, naval guns blast into action, and damaging hits are recorded. Our infantry advances and we see scattered Jap corpses. Manos airfield is reached, and the action livens. Our wounded are hastily brought out as the Medical Corps springs to their aid. Transfusions are given and the surgeons operate in field tents. Jap reinforcements from nearby islands enter the battle, then we stumble unto one of the starkest scenes of this war. Piles of Jap corpses, in grotesque positions are discovered. A high percentage of them are victims of the fanatical Jap self-destruction rite Hara Kiri. Yank hand grenades and machine guns exterminate the remaining Japs. Los Negros, Mamote airfield and the valuable Manos airstrip are taken, and General MacArthur's orders are carried out." 2) Parachute Supplies In Jungle War "Huge C-47 Troop Carrier planes drop parachute-bales of food to isolated units, from low levels, with Norden bomb sight accuracy. Elaborate smoke or cloth panel signals reveal the presence of Allied troops, whereupon transport crews heave and kick the bales overboard, out of their tail-assembly's way. A dramatic instance of Yank air supremacy playing an effective role in the Burma drives." 3) New War Machines "Fort Benning, GA: U.S. Army reveals a mystery weapon, a grenade attachment for the .30 calibre carbine which increases the destructive power of a U.S. Carbineer in numerous ways." M-8, Auto Tank U.S. Army discloses another secret weapon a 7-ton, high speed, 6-wheel, armored truck, with a 'turtle top,' armed with a 37 mm. cannon and a machine gun. Ford Motors mass produces these vehicles, then submits them to the punishing 'proving ground tests.'" 4) Basketball 5) Kelly, One Man Army Honored "Sergeant Charles Kelly of Pittsburgh accumulated a variety of weapons in Italy, then single-handed, in one day's fighting, he killed 40 Germans. General Mark Clark rewards this hero, by personally decorating him." 6) Dewey Gives Press Oscars "NYC: Press Photographers hold their annual exhibit and Governor Dewey distributes the prizes. Exhibit is crowded with choice news pictures and some excellent novelties." 7) Hero Nurses Honored "Guadalcanal: Flight nurses are decorated with the Air Medal and Oak Leaf Clusters for their heroic work in the tropical outposts." P-47 Thunderbolt USS Manila bay (WW II)
The American Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, also known as the "Jug," was the largest single-engined fighter of its day. It was one of the main United States Army Air Force (USAAF) fighters of the Second World War. The P-47 was effective in air combat but proved especially adept in the ground attack role. The "P" designation stood for "Pursuit." Its modern-day equivalent, the A-10 Thunderbolt II takes its name from the P-47. The Thunderbolt also served with a number of other Allied air forces.USS Manila Bay (CVE-61) was an Casablanca class escort carrier of the United States Navy. She was laid down as Bucareli Bay (ACV-61) under Maritime Commission contract by Kaiser Co., Inc., Vancouver, Washington, 15 January 1943; renamed Manila Bay 3 April 1943; launched 10 July 1943; sponsored by Mrs. Robert W. Bockins; reclassified CVE-61 on 15 July 1943; acquired by the Navy 5 October 1943; and commissioned the same day at Astoria, Oregon, Capt. Boynton L. Braun in command. After a shakedown cruise along the west coast, Manila Bay sailed for Pearl Harbor 20 November and returned a load of damaged planes to San Diego 4 December. After training exercises, with VC-7 embarked, she departed Hawaii 3 January 1944. A week later she embarked Rear Adm. Ralph Davidson and became flagship for CarDiv 24. Joining TF 52, she sortied 22 January for the invasion of the Marshalls. Between 31 January and 6 February she launched air and antisubmarine patrols as well as dozens of combat missions. Her planes bombed and strafed enemy positions from Kwajalein Island north to Bigej Island and destroyed ammunition dumps and ground installations. She remained in the Marshalls during the next month and extended her operations late in February first to Eniwetok and then to Majuro. Departing Majuro 7 March, Manila Bay reached Espiritu Santo the 12th. Three days later she joined TF 37 for airstrikes and surface bombardments against Kavieng, New Ireland, 19 March to 20 March. During the next month she cruised between the Solomons and the Bismarck Archipelago supporting the protracted offensive to neutralize the Archipelago and the Japanese fortress at Rabaul. Thence, on 19 April she steamed so that her planes could attack enemy positions on New Guinea.
