A 2000 graduate of Taylorsville High School in Taylorsville, Mississippi, Campbell went on to play college football at Auburn where he led the Tigers to an undefeated season in 2004 and was named the SEC Player of the Year and MVP of the SEC Championship Game. Campbell currently holds the longest touchdown completion in Auburn football history, an 87 yard pass to Silas Daniels in a 2004 matchup versus Louisiana Tech. He also holds the Auburn career record for completion percentage at 64.6%.

Professional career

Campbell was selected as the 25th pick in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins.
On November 13, 2006 coach Joe Gibbs named Jason the starting quarterback of the 3-6 Redskins over Mark Brunell.
On November 19, 2006, Campbell made his first career start, and he threw for two touchdowns and no interceptions in a 20-17 Redskins loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
On November 26, 2006, Campbell earned the first win of his pro career, leading the Redskins to a 17-13 victory over the Carolina Panthers. Campbell completed 11 passes on 23 attempts for 118 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception. Campbell threw a 66 yard touchdown pass to tight end Chris Cooley in the fourth quarter, which proved to be the decisive score. It was later discovered that Campbell's headset used to call plays had malfunctioned right before the play. Campbell called a play that he felt had gone well in practice, not knowing the intended play, and delivered the following touchdown pass. On December 3rd, 2006, Campbell started a game in FedExField in which he would throw one touchdown pass and open up a 14-0 Redskins lead. Washington eventually lost the game 24-14 to Mike Vick and the Atlanta Falcons. Campbell was 18 for 38 and 217 yards, with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions in the game.
On December 10th, 2006, Campbell nearly made an astounding comeback against a surging Philadelphia Eagles team. Campbell led the Redskins to 16 unanswered second half points, while going 15 for 27 for 182 yards and a touchdown in the game. The touchdown was a long 34 yard strike to Antwaan Randle El, and the only difference in the game which ended in a 21-19 Redskins loss, was a tipped ball interception returned for a touchdown by the Eagles.
On August 18, 2007, Campbell was tackled at the knee by Pittsburgh Steelers' DE Brett Keisel in the second preseason game. Initially, the injury looked severely bad but Campbell eventually walked off the field on his own. Trainers said that Campbell's ligaments weren't torn and looked good. They announced his injury as a "bruised knee."

Personal life

Campbell is currently dating Mercedes Lindsay, Miss District of Columbia USA 2007, who will compete in the Miss USA pageant in March.^[1]
