JEFF SOTO


'Jeff Soto' (born June 3, 1975 in Fullerton, California) is a visual artist currently working in Riverside, California. He is married to wife Jennifer and has a daughter named Shannon Daisy.
Soto graduated with Distinction from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena in 2002. He has become established as an artist involved in the Pop-Surrealism movement (See also Lowbrow ) He has shown his paintings and installations throughout the United States and internationally.
Soto started out as a graffiti artist in his teens, and is an active participant in street art. After high school he attended Riverside Community College and worked in the fields of comics, illustration, mural painting and graphic design before transferring to Art Center College of Design in 1999. After graduation Soto continued to work as an illustrator but has slowly focused more on his burgeoning fine art career. Soto’s work usually consists of paintings on wood depicting Man vs. Nature conflicts, various comments on our times, and personal ephemera such as photos and notes. Much of his work appears to be political in nature.
There is a comprehensive book of his paintings, drawings and photography titled ''Potato Stamp Dreams: The Art of Jeff Soto'' published in 2005 by Murphy Design. His art has been featured in numerous publications including ''Juxtapoz'', ''Giant Robot'', ''Hi- Fructose'', ''Art Prostitute'', ''Lodown Magazine'', ''American Illustration'', ''ArtWeek'', ''Print'', ''Clutter'', ''Communication Arts'', and ''Paper''.
