Northern burial mound and church in Jelling churchyard

'Jelling' is a village located in Vejle municipality, Denmark on the Jutland peninsula. Previously the former Viking capital of Denmark, today Jelling is a small village.
Jelling is the site of the burial mounds of King Gorm of Denmark and his wife Thyra, the parents of King Harold I of Denmark (Harold Bluetooth, Danish: Harald Blåtand), who also erected a Christian church on the spot.
Harold also erected the Jelling stones – massive monolithic rune stones – bearing the words:
"''King Haraldr ordered this monument made in memory of Gormr, his father, and in memory of Thyrvé, his mother; that Haraldr who won for himself all of Denmark and Norway and made the Danes Christian.''"
This declaration is known as the Baptism of Denmark.
