JENNY WAKEMAN
'Global Robotic Response Unit XJ-9', alias '"Jenny" XJ-9 Wakeman' is the protagonist of ''My Life as a Teenage Robot'', a teenage female superhero robot created by Dr. Nora Wakeman, and called Jenny Wakeman at her high school. She was built to save the world from evil. However, she has free will and emotions, and frequently rebels against her creator, in a manner typical of modern teenagers.
Jenny stands at 6 feet (1.82 m) tall. She has blue pigtails, with bolts connecting from her head to pigtails, blue hair, white skin, blue clothes, she has a tank top and bottom, a belly bolt (a bolt that simulates a belly button), feet that mix with the shoes, arms with lines in the middle, hands with 4 fingers that have holes in the center, no ears, and a "false nose".
Jenny's personality is that of the eager young teenager, one who desires a sense of freedom, but also wants acceptance from her peers. She likes anything pertaining to teenage activities, but hates it when her mother or her duties get in her way of her enjoyment. Unfortunately, she is easily trusting of others and, as a result, can be quite naïve. The Krust cousins Brit and Tiff have often taken advantage of Jenny's kind and trusting nature.
Jenny's desire for acceptance has also earned her the attention of the all-robotic alien Cluster Empire, whose queen, ''Vexus'', desires to bring Jenny into the Cluster in the name of "liberation from humanity". But no matter how badly she suffers from her human peers, Jenny continues to stick up for them, much to Vexus's confusion and anger.
Because of her low standings on the social ladder at school, Jenny has only a few friends. Brad and Tuck Carbunkle are her closest pals, for they were the first two friends Jenny ever got to know in all of her five years of activation. Sheldon Lee, the local nerd at school is another long-time friend of her. Ex-Teen Team member Misty and the princess of Cluster Prime, Vega, are also close friends that Jenny has gotten to know.
Being a robot while trying to fight crime everyday along with school gigs, parties and hang out time with friends and popularity, it seems that sometimes Jenny just needs a break from both being social and fighting off evil. Especially Vexus. She gets threats, and a warning from her if she doesn't join, but Jenny gets tired of invitations to human slavery yet even with robotic independence. She desperatly wants to fit in, but at the same time is beautiful the way she is. Jenny Wakeman is a true friend and powerful ally.
At first appearance, Jenny seems constantly happy and sturdy. But really, she's just a nice teen trying to fit in with humans; though sometimes she disagrees with them. During her mother's criticism, when she called her 'XJ9, she replied, "Jenny." Her mother, puzzled asked her, "What?" She yelled again, "Jenny, I changed my name to Jenny!!" One of the days after her activation, she confesses to her mom that she wants to 'have friends', 'hang out' and have fun. Then remarks, 'Not that anyone would wanna HANG OUT with a walking hunk of metal". Originally, Jenny's existence was to stay secret to the world. But when she met Brad (climbed through her window) they both exclaimed, "Wow, a real life robot!" and "Wow, a real life teenager!". Tuck did not trust her at first, but when he had his first encounter with her crime fighting skills, he changes his mind fast. Her mother watched them and said that she disobeyed her, but lets it go for the day and lets her 'hang out'.
Jenny is voiced by Janice Kawaye, who also provides the voice for the animated version of Ami Onuki on ''Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi''.
