JOEY GALLOWAY

'Joe Galloway' (born November 20, 1971 in Bellaire, Ohio) is an American football wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League and part owner of the Arena Football League Columbus Destroyers. He was acquired in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys for receiver Keyshawn Johnson. He was originally selected with the eighth overall pick of the 1995 NFL Draft out of Ohio State University by the Seattle Seahawks.

Considered one of the best players in Ohio State history, Galloway entered the draft in 1995. At the NFL Combine, he recorded a 4.38 second 40 yard dash time. He made an immediate impact in the NFL. Early in his professional career he was considered by many to be one of the most gifted players in the NFL, going over the 1,000 yard mark in three of his first four seasons, while also being a star return man.
In 2000, Galloway was hit with the franchise tag by the Seahawks. The Cowboys signed him giving up first round picks in the 2000 NFL Draft (19th overall) and the 2001 NFL Draft (9th overall) that the Seahawks used to select Shaun Alexander and Koren Robinson, respectively.
In 2005, Galloway enjoyed his best season as a pro, catching 83 passes for 1,287 yards and 10 touchdowns. It was the first time since 1998 that he eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards. 2006 was the year that could have been for #84. He was arguably the most consistent offensive player for the Bucs despite erratic quarterback play.

Broadcasting Work and Other Activities

Galloway is part-owner of the Columbus Destroyers in the Arena Football League and he has done much broadcasting work which could mean he could have a career in television when he retires. It is said he is likely to pursue this career option.
