JOHN CANNIS
'John Cannis ' (born November 4, 1951) is a member of the House of Commons in Canada.
Born in Kalymnos, Greece, he was raised and educated in Toronto, Ontario. He was first elected as a Liberal candidate in the 1993 election in the riding of Scarborough Centre. He was re-elected in the1997, 2000, 2004 and 2006 elections
From 1999 to 2001, he was the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Industry.
In 2004, Cannis sent a letter to Justice Minister Irwin Cotler calling for members of the Khadr family to be charged under Canada's new anti-terrorism laws.[1][2]
He and his wife Mary, have three children, Irene, Paul, and Daniel.
