JOHN CHALLIS

'John Challis' (born August 16 1942 in Bristol) is an English actor best known for his role as Aubrey "Boycie" Boyce in the long-running comedy show ''Only Fools and Horses'', and its 2005 spin-off, ''The Green Green Grass''. An early role was in the controversial gangster drama ''Big Breadwinner Hog'' in 1969, and he made regular appearances in ''Z Cars'' as Sergeant Culshaw between 1971-1975.
His television appearances include ''Dixon of Dock Green'', ''The Sweeney'', ''Doctor Who'' (in the story'' The Seeds of Doom''), ''Coronation Street'', ''Citizen Smith'', ''Ever Decreasing Circles'', ''The Bill'', ''One Foot in the Grave'', ''Open All Hours'', ''The New Statesman'', ''Don't Wait Up'', ''Soldier Soldier'', ''Brass Eye'' and ''Heartbeat''.
In 1980 Challis married the actress Debbie Arnold, but they divorced in 1982.
He currently resides in Herefordshire

John Challis is probably best known for his long-running, loveable portrayal of Aubrey Boyce in Britain's Best Sitcom Only Fools and Horses which he continued to play in the hit spin off The Green Green Grass. John has also had a number of stage roles, for instance the narrator in The Rocky Horror Show.
