High school years
Jon Beason in his early years attended the now 2003 and 2005 High School Football State Champion Chaminade Madonna College Preparatory School from 1999-2003. He is a tough competitor who impressed coaches with his consistent intensity throughout his high school career. Beason played multiple positions including linebacker, strong safety and fullback.
During and after his high school career he consistently dominated opponents in run support, but also showed ability to be effective in pass coverage. He not only played football but did track and basketball too as a starting forward on the basketball team, helping lead his team to the finals of the state playoffs in 2002. As a high school senior, Beason rushed for 811 yards and 12 touchdowns at fullback, and made 75 tackles and had five pass interceptions on defense.
University of Miami
After graduating from high school, Beason was offered football scholarships from multiple colleges and chose the University of Miami.
7th Floor Crew
Beason was known at the University of Miami for his purported role (as "Big Beast") in the recording of the song "7th Floor Crew", a lewd rap music song about sexual activities on the seventh floor of UM's Mahoney Hall.[1]
Carolina Panthers
Beason was selected as the 25th overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. At Carolina, Beason will be able to provide support at the linebacker position alongside Dan Morgan, who also played collegiate football at the University of Miami. As a rookie, Beason is expected to start at weakside linebacker.
