'Zé Maria' (real name 'José Marcelo Ferreira', born July 25 1973) is a Brazilian football player. He can play either as a right back or a right wing back. He currently plays for Levante UD.
Born in Oeiras, Brazil, he signed with Portuguesa in 1996, before switching to Flamengo a year later. After a successful season, he moved to Italy with Parma, where he enjoyed a productive spell. He has played also for Palmeiras, Vasco da Gama and Cruzeiro. In the summer of 1999 he moved to Perugia, before transferring to Internazionale in 2003. He was released on a free transfer by Internazionale in the summer of 2006. In August he signed for Levante.
