Early life

The Young Superstar as her Title in Showbiz. Ms. Santos was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. She has an elder brother, actor Jeffrey Santos, and an elder sister named Jackie. Her mother single-handedly raised them by working as a nanny in Toronto, Canada.[1] [2]

Acting career

Santos started acting at the age of eight. Since then, she has gained critical acclaim and popular success both in film and television acting, appearing in box office hits, and achieving high soap opera ratings, acting awards, and magazine covers.
In November 2006, Santos was awarded her own star in the Philippines Walk of Fame. In March 2007, she was inducted into the Paradise of Stars in the Mowelfund Compound. Both honors were spearheaded by German Moreno. Santos is set to celebrate her twentieth anniversary and twenty-ninth birthday via an ABS-CBN television special scheduled to be broadcast in May or June 2007.
The horror film Ouija will be Santos' first venture into the horror genre and it is her first time to work for GMA Films for this co-production with Viva Films. Ouija (which also stars Iza Calzado and Rhian Ramos, will be screened on cinemas nationwide starting July 25) ended the so-called "rivalry" between Judy Ann and Jolina and their respective managers, Alfie Lorenzo and Jun Magdangal. But it failed to end the rivalry between major networks—ABS-CBN and GMA-7. Judy Ann is a certified Kapamilya star who has just renewed her contract last June while Jolina is a former Star Magic talent who moved to the Kapuso Network in 2002.[3]
Judy Ann (7-17-07) has been on the cover of several magazines, including Preview, marie claire, and Cosmopolitan, and now graces the cover of YES! magazine's 100 Most Beautiful Stars. The It list is divided into several categories: "Faces the camera loves," "Instant stardom," "Classic beauty," "On-screen chemistry," "Staying power," and "Gene pool," etc. Here are some of the stars that made it on the list: Aga Muhlach and his wife Charlene's children, Andres and Atasha, made it to the "Tomorrow's celebrities" category. The fraternal twins are making heads turn with their infectious smile from their Daddy Aga and wit from Mommy Charlene. At five years old, they're already endorsing Jollibee's fast-food chain with their parents. In Paris, France, KC Concepcion still manages to sell magazines she appears in. Of Lucy Torres-Gomez YES! magazine says: "Her virginal face, svelte figure, and luminous complexion grace the covers of many magazines, and she has become an aspirational icon for readers." The soft-spoken wife of Richard Gomez is one beauty that cannot be ignored, hence landing her as one of the "Cover girls."[4]
On August 17, 2007, PEP said that Dennis Trillo, Marian Rivera and Judy Ann Santos will star in Regal Films'
''When I Met You'' to be directed by Regal's Joel Lamangan, but he will not make it with Angel Locsin. Dennis is now doing ''Kulam'' with Judy Ann Santos for Regal Films also. On August 21, Dennis started in taping his new ''fantaserye'' of GMA-7's ''Zaido'', where he stars with Raymart Santiago, Marky Cielo, Aljur Abrenica, and Lorna Tolentino, at a studio in Marilao, Bulacan.
[5]

Weight issues

Santos grew from a skinny little girl into a chubby teenager. To become physically fit and more cinematically appealing, Santos resorted to Bangkok pills and fad diets but failed. Soon, she discovered the sport of kickboxing and started losing considerable weight during her training for the role of a boxer in ''Bakit 'Di Totohanin''.
Santos has become an image model for health and physical fitness. She regularly appears in television advertisements, endorsing pharmaceutical brands, herbal supplements, and weight management products. She has transformed from a "chubby teen sweetheart" into a "sexy fitness guru".[6] [7] [8] [9]

Politics

Santos has been an effective political campaigner. In 2004, she vigorously campaigned for socialite Jamby Madrigal in the Senatorial race. The erstwhile unknown Madrigal ranked fourth in the National Elections, and is now a well-known opposition senator. In March 2007, Santos started campaigning for reelectionist Senator Francis Pangilinan, spouse of veteran actress Sharon Cuneta. [10]

Culinary skills

Santos is a professionally trained gourmet chef. She owns and manages a fine dining restaurant called ''Kaffe Carabana'' and the defunct ''Kaffe Kilimanjaro'', both in Quezon City.
Santos attended culinary programs and graduated ''with distinction'' from the Center for Asian Culinary Studies under the tutelage of celebrated chef Gene Gonzales. She is training for certification as a professional chef.[11]

Private life

Santos was rumored to have had relationships with actor-dancer Wowie De Guzman, actor-entrepreneur Rico Yan, and actor-singer-TV host Piolo Pascual. Santos is currently dating actor, television host, and businessman Ryan Agoncillo.1
Santos has made several friends in local show-business, including talent manager Alfie Lorenzo, actress-restaurateur Beth Tamayo, actor, singer, and television host Piolo Pascual, production designer Dante Nico Garcia, director Joyce Bernal, and veteran actresses Sharon Cuneta, Coney Reyes, and Caridad Sanchez.1
