KAPTAGAT

'Kaptagat' is a village near Eldoret town in the Rift Valley Province, Kenya. It is located near the near the edge of the Great Rift Valley. Administratively, it is a location in Ainabkoi division of Uasin Gishu District. Its local authority is Wareng County Council and constituency is Eldoret East. Although geographically, Kaptagat lies both on the Uasin Gishu district and Keiyo Districts.
Historically, Kaptagat was the Home of colonial Landowners and still retains the colonial feel. Kaptagat Hotel, Kaptagat Preparatory school still bear the Historical mark of the colonial era.
Kaptagat is the home of Nicholas Biwott, a former government minister and ally of Daniel arap Moi. Both belong to the Kalenjin tribe, which has a stronghold in Kaptagat.[1]
Kaptagat has a small hospital. It is also the site of the Great Rift Valley Sports Camp, training site of many Kenyan runners including Elijah Lagat, Moses Tanui[2] and Brimin Kipruto.[3] Kaptagat is also home to [Chepkero Athletics Club], a club that caters for student athletes.
