The Girl With The Secret
'''Original Airdate:

The 34 semifinalists meet in
Los Angeles and have a pool party to celebrate making it that far. Deciding to have a bit more fun, some of the girls trek out to a local hotspot where one semifinalist gets into a bar fight with a local, and is disqualified for violence. This happens to be Tiffany Richardson, who later went for anger management classes and re-auditioned for
Cycle 4, and was successful.
Later on, the girls have one-on-one introductions to the judges and a cut is announced where 14 out of the 34 girls are eliminated, leaving a final 20. A second cut soon after eliminates 6 more girls and the final 14 is revealed.
Despite receiving rave reviews from the judges about Amanda's stunning eyes, it's revealed that her best assets are also her downfall. Amanda reveals that she has an eye disease, and is legally blind. She will be about 30 when she's completely blind.

The final 14 are flown to
Jamaica for their first photoshoot, where they meet their director of photography for the season,
Jay Manuel, and are told to pose in swimsuits against the backdrop of the Jamaican shoreline. Jay also tells the girls that there is only room for 13 people at the apartment in
New York and that one girl will be eliminated before the flight home. This is the only cycle to date which includes two international trips for photoshoots and components of the cycle (the girls in
Cycle 6 fly to Bangkok and Phuket but these are both within the borders of Thailand).
The next day, the girls go to brunch and learn that they would be flying back to the States for the remainder of the competition. They receive an envelope containing the name of the girl to be eliminated. Magdalena is the first ever girl to be eliminated outside the judging panel, being eliminated on the spot when the envelope shows her name.
Once they land, the girls proceed to their first official judging and elimination panel, where the weak photos of Leah and Ann cause them to fall to the bottom two, where Leah is found to be more "plain Jane", and is eliminated.

The Girl Everyone Thinks Is A Backstabber
'''Original Airdate:
October 6,
2004
During this episode, each girl was given a new look. Some makeovers were drastic - Jennipher was told that her waist-length hair would be cut and donated to
Locks of Love, and Amanda was transformed from a brunette to an ice blonde. For that week's shoot, each contestant was challenged to take a beauty shot without any make-up.
Throughout the episode, the girls begin to see signs that Cassie may have problems with body image and her weight. The girls confront her at dinner about not eating enough, but she persists that she is simply doing what she must to be a model. During the photo shoot, she tells Amanda that she is (or used to be) bulimic; this word gets around to the other girls, who become very concerned.
At judging, the girls review the retouched and unretouched versions of their photo. Kelle is criticized for avoiding blame for her bad photo, and Tyra becomes disappointed with Julie after it is revealed her motive for being on the show was not to launch a modeling career but rather to gain an edge in fashion manufacturing. In the end Kelle & Julie land in the bottom two, and Julie is eliminated because the judges felt she didn't want this.
