KENWOOD, CALIFORNIA

'Kenwood', California 95409 and 95452, USA is a town along State Route 12 in Sonoma County. The region is sometimes referred to as The Valley of the Moon. Elevations in the community are approximately 430 feet above mean sea level.
Located between Santa Rosa and Sonoma, Kenwood is quiet except for an occasional siren or general aviation aircraft overflight. The Kenwood area is known for vineyards and wineries, restaurants, and a European-style resort. An area landmark is the Kunde Estate Winery on Highway 12.West of town is the City of Santa Rosa senior citizens community of Oakmont.
Under Mexican rule in the 1800s, the community was part of an Alta California land grant named 'Los Guilicos'.

Western California Telephone Company provided telephone service to Kenwood, Los Gatos, Morgan Hill and Novato, but in the 1970s was acquired by General Telephone, (later GTE and then Verizon). These four areas are now served by Verizon. Part of Oakmont is inside the Verizon service area causing that portion to have Kenwood prefixes. The area code for Kenwood is 707.
