On November 20, 2006 he was traded to the Florida Marlins for Chris Resop.
He has taken over the Closer role for the Marlins after the team went through a couple of options in Jorge Julio and Henry Owens, who lost the job after landing on the DL. So far he has earned 26 saves in 28 save opportunities during the 2007 season, giving him the 5th most saves in the NL despite not being the closer for the first month and a half.
He is very quiet and composed for a closer. He has been referred to as Clark Kent while on the mound, due to his facial resemblance and his use of prescription glasses.
