KIAMBU DISTRICT

'Kiambu District' is an administrative district in the Central Province of Kenya. Its capital town is Kiambu. The district is adjacent to the northern border of Nairobi. The district has a population of 744.010 [1].
The district is predominantly rural, but its urban population is soaring as Nairobi is growing rapidly. Kikuyu are the dominant tribe in the district.
In 2007 Kiambu District is set to be subdivided into two, namely Kiambu East and Kiambu West. Kiambu West district will take Limuru, Lari and Kikuyu divisions [2], with Limuru as its district capital.
