KINGSTON AND PEMBROKE RAILWAY

Incorporated in 1871, the 'Kingston and Pembroke Railway' (K&P) eventually ran from Kingston to Renfrew, stopping at small towns like Verona, Tichborne, Flower Station and Calabogie. In 1919 the Canadian Pacific Railway leased the K&P for a whopping 999 years, only to have the last train run on it's tracks in 1986. It is affectionately remembered as the ''kick and push'' railroad, and now serves as a trail for hiking enthusiasts.
