KIRIN CUP
The 'Kirin Cup' is an annual football tournament organised in Japan by the Kirin Corporation. Participants are either club teams or national teams, but the Japan national team is always a participant. Since 1992 only national teams have entered this competition. Japan is the current champion.
Colombia and Montenegro joined hosts Japan for the 17th annual Kirin Cup played in the first week of June. [1] Japan and Colombia used the tournament as a warm-up before their participations at Asian Cup finals and the 2007 edition of Copa America respectively. The winners received $100,000 US, with the runners-up and the third placed team each receiving $50,000 US and $10,000 US respectively.[2]
