KLEIN OAK HIGH SCHOOL


'Klein Oak High School' is a Blue Ribbon high school in unincorporated Harris County, Texas, United States. It was established in August 1982. Its current roll is around 3,170 students. The school's principal is Kelly Schumacher.
Klein Oak was the third high school in Klein ISD. The school, which serves grades 9 through 12, is administered by the Klein Independent School District. Several areas of unincorporated Harris County, including Kohrville, and Gleannloch Farms, are zoned to Klein Oak.

Demographics


Klein Oak has the smallest high school enrollment in Klein ISD. The school has gained nearly 300 students from last year. The Klein Oak Zone has the largest growth rate in the district. Enrollment dropped drastically in 2001 when Klein Collins High School took nearly half of Klein Oak's enrollment. The school recently moved back up to 5A in the 2006-2007 school year.

Academics


During the 1994-96 school years, Klein Oak High School was recognized with the Blue Ribbon School Award of Excellence by the United States Department of Education[1], the highest award an American school can receive.[2][3]
The IB Diploma Programme has been offered at this school since February 2004. It is the only school in Klein ISD which offers the program.[4]

Extracurricular activities


Klein Oak High School has recently been named a GRAMMY Signature school for the 2006-2007 school year.[5] Its music department has been recognized over the past decades for outstanding performances in numerous competitions.
Klein Oak is home to the Strutters, a nationally-recognized dance drill team comprised of talented female dancers.
