KOLKATA MUNICIPAL CORPORATION

'Kolkata Municipal Corporation' (formerly ''Calcutta Municipal Corporation'') is responsible for the civic infrastructure and administration of the city of Kolkata. The organisation is known, in short, as 'KMC' (previously CMC). This civic administrative body administers an area of 185 sq. km. Its motto, ''Purosree Bibardhan'', is inscribed on its emblem in Bengali script. KMC is headed by Mr. Bikash Bhattacharya the present Mayor of Kolkata.

Corruption & Complacency

Officials of this organization are infamous for accepting bribes and delaying land registration. As a matter of fact, political mafia virtually calls the shots when it comes consumer service for this municipal body ''^{citation needed}'' .
