URBAN DISTRICTS OF GERMANY
(Redirected from Kreisfreie Stadt)
This is a 'list of urban districts in Germany'. Germany is divided into 429 districts (not to be confused with the larger Regierungsbezirk); these consist of 313 rural districts (''Landkreise'', see List of German rural districts) and 116 urban districts (''Kreisfreie Städte'' / ''Stadtkreise'') - cities which constitute a district in their own right.
A similar concept is the ''Statutarstadt'' in Austria. The concept is comparable to the independent city in the English-speaking world.
