'Kudallur' is in the Palakkad district of Kerala. It is in Ottappalam taluk, bordering Malappuram district, also on the banks of Bharathapuzha. This village was originally in Ponnani taluk of Palakkad, before the formation of Malappuram district. The place is famous for its illustrious son writer M. T. Vasudevan Nair. The other well known personality from here is artist Achutan Kudallur. Kudallur is a calm and beautiful village having all the features of a true Palakkadan Naatinpuram (countryside). It is at Kudallur, exactly at Koottakadavu the two rivers Nila and Thootha meet. Kudallur Hills, mentioned in M. T. Vasudevan Nair stories are the another point of attraction. The village is in Anakkara Panchayath, Thrithala block ie in Ottapalam Taluk.
As the village has an agrarian economy a good number of people are indulged in agriculture and related jobs. Almost all the families depend on paddy fields, coconut estates and areacanut orchards for their daily life. 100 % of people are literate. This prestigious milestone was covered during the Saksharatha Yajna (Mission Literacy) in 1991. Muslims and Hindus reside here in an almost equal number. It is interesting that there lives only one Christian family in the village. But they have no Church here. The Muslims come under the Kudallur Mahallu (Parish). Pazhaya Palli, Majid u Thaqva, Manniyamperumbalam Masjid are the main masjids or muslim worhip centres. The first temple in Kerala is near Kudallur, in Panniyur. Vazhakavu, Malamalkavu and Siva Temple are the main Hindu religiuos centres in the village.
A number of people, both Muslims and Hindus; and ofcourse one from the only Christian family work abroad- mainly Gulf countries. A flow of the village's men folk happened during the early 1990's.
The main rural festivals are Malamakkvu Pooram and Kudallur Nercha. Malamakkavu Pooram is celebrated at Malamakkavu Ayyappa Temple. Display of traditional art and dance forms are the points of attraction at Pooram. A number of elephants are displayed after decorating traditionally. A huge amount is being spent for fire works. Kudallur Nercha is observed in the bank of The River Bharathapuzha in the small hut which is supposed to be the Mausoleum of Martyr Komu. Band troups, Elephants and traditional art forms such as Duffmuttu and Kolkkali are the main attractions.
The other ''Kudallur'' is located in Chittur taluk, on the northern banks of Gayathripuzha River, a tributary of Bharathapuzha. Nemmara is the nearest town from Kudallur. The late historian Prof.K V Krishna Iyer hails from this Kudallur.
