LP5

'''LP5''' is the fifth album by the electronic music group Autechre. It was released in 1998 by Warp Records. (The album does not provide a title, but Warp Records reference it as ''LP5'' and that's how it is usually referred to, in line with ''EP7''. Some call it '''Autechre''', though.)
This album shows Autechre finally abandoning the full, warm sounds of albums like ''Tri Repetae'' for a stripped-down, technical style they had begun exploring on ''Chiastic Slide'' and the ''Cichlisuite'' EP. It is fairly controversial: many regard it as Autechre descending into unlistenable pretension, and equally many regard it as innovative.
