LA ROMANA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
'La Romana International Airport' is located on the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic, adjacent to the tourist town of La Romana and the resort of Casa de Campo. The airport, which opened in December 2000, is about 68 miles (110km) from the capital, Santo Domingo. The single terminal is built in the style of an old sugar mill.
This Airport recives flights from USA, Canada and Europe. Other flights come from other caribbean islands like Puerto Rico and Cuba.
The Airport is conformed by a main terminal with 4 gates, moderns it has facilities for passenger and for the maintenance of the aircrafts. This airport receives most of the private flights in the country, principality business men that comes to La Romana for a good vacation in Casa de Campo.

La Romana to become a Hub
The new Dominican airline, Sol Airlines, has plans to begin operations in La Romana and make it its hub, with flights to the Caribbean, North, Central & South America and Europe. The airline plans to commence operations in 2007 with the following aircraft: Boeing 767-200 and British Airspace BAe-146, with a total of seven aircraft. This is the first time that a Dominican airline has chosen a British aircraft (BAE 146). In the near future, this airline has plans to increase the number of destinations from La Romana and is also planning on adding another hub in Santiago-Cibao.
