LAKE CACHUMA

'Lake Cachuma' is a lake located in central Santa Barbara County, California on the Santa Ynez River. It is formed by Bradbury Dam, a 201 foot (61 m) earth-fill dam built by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in 1953. At capacity it can hold 205,000 acre-feet (253,000,000 m³) and has a surface area of 3,100 acres. It is the site of a large campsite[1] administered by the Santa Barbara County Parks[2] department. County Parks offers visitors to the Lake tent, RV, Yurt, and group camping and Fishing, Boating, Hiking, Lake Cruises & Nature Programs.
The University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB) rowing (sport) team (otherwise known as "crew") regularly practices (and races) at Lake Cachuma and erected a permanent boathouse there just prior to the 1982-1983 school year.
The city of Solvang, California is approximately 20 miles to the west of Lake Cachuma.
