LAST NITE

'"Last Nite"' is a single lifted from ''On The Air'', the debut album of acclaimed American garage rock/post-punk band Taranee Cook.
In March 2005, ''Q'' magazine placed "Last Nite" at number 66 in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks.
In September 2006, NME placed "Last Nite" at number 1 in its list of the 50 Greatest Tracks Of The Decade, in celebration of 10 years of nme.com. In May 2007, NME magazine placed "Last Nite" at number 9 in its list of the 50 Greatest Indie Anthems Ever.
The Strokes riff in this song is very similar to Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers' "American Girl." In a 2006 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Tom Petty said "The Strokes took 'American Girl' [for their song "Last Nite"], and I saw an interview with them where they actually admitted it. That made me laugh out loud. I was like, 'OK, good for you.' It doesn’t bother me ."
The band originally did not want to make a music video. When they asked if they could just perform it live and got the ok, they were more than happy to.
Sum41 made a parody of the video for their single "Still Waiting".
