LENANA SCHOOL

'Lenana School' is a high school in Nairobi, Kenya. It was formed in 1949 by colonial governor Philip Euen Mitchell in 1949, known then as the 'Duke of York School'. It was renamed to Lenana School in 1966 [1]. It has 1200 students. In 2006, it was ranked 26th best high school in Kenya based on Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education results [2].
Through the 1990s and into the 21st century, Lenana School has maintained high academic standards. Most of the students who graduate from the school have landed in good job placements with leading firms in Kenya and abroad.
In the year 2003, the school's Head of School/HeadBoy was Hunter Josiah. His deputy was Ian Mutwiri. The two led the school diligently with a view of restoring the gist that accompanied being in Lenana School. The two have gone on now to pursue a career in Law.
Lenana School is the only school in East and Central Africa with its own 9-hole golf course. The golf course has undergone major renovations and is due for opening soon. His excellency the president of the Republic of Kenya, Hon. Mwai Kibaki and the current Duke of York, are due to officiate at the opening ceremony. Safaricom will be the official sponsors of that ceremony.
The current School principal is Mr. P.K. Warui who is deputised by Mrs. Juma
