LENE KAABERBøL
'Lene Kaaberbøl' (born in 1960) is a Danish writer, a best-selling author in Copenhagen, Denmark. She is also known in the rest of Scandinavia. She tends to write fantasy books set in the medieval period. Kaaberbøl teaches English and drama when she is not writing new stories or translating her own books into English.
One of her best-known books is about Kat, or Katriona Teresadatter, a girl who joins the "Bredinari", and tries to become a silver knight, but it ends up with her saving the whole of Breda (the land in which the story takes place), and it all ends happily. There are almost always mystic mages and such in her books. She has also wrote the cartoon W.I.T.C.H.
''Skammerens Datter/ The Shamer's Daughter'' (2000)
''Skammertegnet/ The Shamer's Signet'' (2001)
''Slangens Gave/ The Serpent's Gift'' (2001)
''Skammerkrigeren/ The Shamer's War'' (2003)
About the books, she says, "When I was about seven years old, I was made of glass - at least as far as my mother was concerned. She could see right through me. These days I can lie with a perfectly straight face if I have to. But what if there was a woman who can strip away all pretenses simply by looking someone in the eyes? A Shamer could be a very useful and necessary person, but also someone it would be uncomfortable to have around - and even more difficult to have for a mother."
