'Lenox Library' is one of the cornerstones of the New York Public Library. The Lenox Library was founded by James Lenox in 1871 and later transformed along with John Jacob Astor's Astor Library into the New York Public Library in 1911. The original building stood on Fifth Avenue. It was torn down in 1912 for what is now the Frick Museum and Library.
