LEVITTOWN, PUERTO RICO

'Levittown, Puerto Rico', part of the municipality of Toa Baja, is one of the largest planned communities in Puerto Rico.
Levittown is divided into eight sections (called ''secciones'') and different sub-divisions called ''urbanizaciones'' (suburbs) or gated communities. Levittown is famed for its large, light blue painted water tower (now no longer used) that was one of the first to provide potable water to Puerto Rico.
Levittown's main avenue is Boulevard Ave. It has a public beach known as Punta Salinas and also one of the biggest sports centers of the metropolitan area of San Juan. Its Olympic pool has been in use since its construction in 1977. Its high school is named after a great political leader, Pedro Albizu Campos.
The Boulevard Avenue has the largest small business buildings in the entire urbanization. Also the Los Dominicos Avenue is the second main avenue and connects to other urbanizations, e.g., Sabana Seca and the city of Bayamon. Levittown has more than three shopping centers. The 165 highway connects the city of Toa Baja with Cataño and Dorado. The 165 is a scenic route and provides a coastal view. Punta Salinas radar and El Morro are visible. At night, the Morro's lighthouse and the Cataño power plant are visible.
Punta Salinas, the public beach, is also the home of a Puerto Rico Air National Guard unit, 140 ADS, that provides air traffic control support to the FAA, military and law enforcement operations. It is also the home of a Civil Air Patrol squadron, one of several in Toa Baja city.
Levittown is in constant growth and provides tropical weather all year round. The water tower, also known by pilots as the "Levittown Water Tank," provides a visual navigational checkpoint to aircraft flying either to Isla Grande airport or to Luis Munoz Marin International Airport. The airspace traffic over Levittown is heavy as it is on the streets.
