Lexington High School has a strong tradition in sports including four team state championships and several individual championships. The football team at LHS has fallen upon hard times going 2-8 the last two seasons, but had a great run under 2001 Division II State Coach of the Year Dave Kaple through the late 90's and early 2000's. In 2001 the football team won their first Ohio Heartland Conference Crown since 1988, and advanced to the OHSAA Division II playoffs, for the first and only time, persisted to knock of #1 seeded Marysville before losing to state runner-up Bishop Watterson. The boys' basketball team in the past few years has gradually been improving, this year finishing with a 15-9 record as Northwest District Runner-up to state-bound Upper Sandusky. The boys' basketball team is coached by a 1989 Lexington graduate Grant Weaver. He will be going into his third season. The girls' team has had great success in recent years under 2007 Division II State Coach of the Year Dan Trease. The girls have been crowned Northwest District Champions four of the last five years, and reached the State Final Four in 2003. They concluded the 2006-2007 season 21-3 as District Champions.
