LINDENHURST, NEW YORK

'Lindenhurst' is a village in Suffolk County, New York, on the southern shore of Long Island in the Town of Babylon. As of the 2006 census, the village had a total population of 28,000. It is the 4th largest village in New York State. The village was originally named Breslau.
Noted individuals from Lindenhurst include Pat Benatar, Guitarist Ryan Curry and drummer Shane Curry of Seventh Dagger recording artists The World We Knew, indie film icon director Hal Hartley, game show host Jack Barry, and actor Dan Lauria of ''The Wonder Years''. Lindenhurst was featured prominently in some of Hartley's films.
