'Londonderry Port' at 'Lisahally' in Derry in Northern Ireland is the United Kingdom’s most westerly port and has capacity for 30,000 ton vessels as well as accepting cruise ships. It is situated on the east bank of the River Foyle at the southern end of Lough Foyle. It is operated by the 'Londonderry Port and Harbour Commissioners', whose former offices just north of the city walls are now a museum.
The port played a vital part for the Allies in World War II during the war's longest running campaign, the
Battle of the Atlantic and eventually saw the surrender of the German U-Boat fleet at Lisahally on 8 May 1945.
In 2005, the port was named "Irish Port of the Year".
The football team of Strathfoyle, Lisahally F.C. takes its name from the port, after being founded by its workers.
