Ai

Main articles: DÅbutsu no Mori (film)

''Appearances: DÅbutsu no Mori film''
Ai

A young girl who is the main character of the DÅbutsu no Mori film. At the beginning of the film, Ai moves to the village. She gets a part time job with Tom Nook, and gradually starts making friends in the village. Then, one night she finds a mysterious letter in a bottle on the beach. Opening the bottle, she finds the message reads 'Plant a Conifer, and on the night of the Snow Festival something miraculous will happen".

Blanca

''Appearances: AC, WW''
'Blanca' is a faceless cat who randomly appears in town. Blanca is in a dilemma because her face disappeared when she washed it and so requests the player to draw a new one. In ''Animal Crossing'', she appears when a user boards a train to another town (she appears randomly and replaces Rover), and in ''Animal Crossing: Wild World'', she randomly appears in the player's town when the player has connected to the Nintendo Wi-Fi network.

Blathers

''Appearences: AC, WW''
'Blathers' is an owl who owns the museum. He loves everything related to it (except bugs). On ''Animal Crossing: Wild World'', he has a younger sister called Celeste, who manages the star observatory on the second floor of the museum.

Booker

''Appearances: AC, WW''
Officer Booker

'Booker' is an absent-minded bulldog police officer who runs the lost-and-found in ''Animal Crossing'' and guards the Town Gate in ''Wild World'', presenting many useful town options to the player. In Wild World, he doesn't seem to pay attention or understand what anyone says. He also has a tendency to apologize for almost everything, such as the lost and found being empty, if he fails to notice a recent visitor to the town, or if Katie is seen in your town. He always appears to be tired or feeling ill.

Brewster

''Appearances: WW''

'Brewster' is a introverted pigeon that runs the Roost in the Museum's basement. Brewster at first seems to be shy, but eventually will befriend the player, offering things such as pigeon milk for their coffee. He makes a cameo appearance in Smashville of ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl''.

Celeste

''Appearances: WW''

'Celeste' is the highly intelligent owner of the observatory on the second level of the museum. She is also Blather's younger sister and lets you create your own constellations, gaze at the constellations in the sky, and tells you when the constellations will appear. She's a bit shy at times, unlike Blathers, who can ramble on for a long time. She also makes a cameo appearance in the Smashville stage of ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl''.

Copper

''Appearances: AC, WW''
'Copper' is an officious dog police officer. In ''Animal Crossing'' he provides information on upcoming events in the town and in ''Wild World'' he guards the town gate and handles Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection tasks. He is an avid fitness fanatic and is also the town aerobics instructor in the original ''Animal Crossing''.

Cornimer

''Appearances: WW''
'Cornimer' is a guise for the mayor Tortimer, dressed in an acorn mask during the Acorn Festival. Cornimer claims to not have any relation to Tortimer, however when the player goes into the Town Hall and talks to Pelly or Phyllis, Tortimer does not appear sleeping in the background, indicating that Tortimer is outside disguised as Cornimer. Cornimer is obsessed with acorns and believes, that with proper use, acorns have the power to view the future. He will start to reward the player mushroom themed furniture if given enough acorns, but if given a rotten acorn he will be enraged, and will lecture the player in a similar fashion to Mr. Resetti.

Crazy Redd

''Appearances: AC, WW''
'Crazy Redd', more commonly referred to as simply 'Redd', is a red fox who owns a tent called Crazy Redd's Furniture Emporium dealing in Black Market goods. Redd's age is not ever told in the game, but it is said to be 35 years old. Redd suggests that he has a hostile relationship towards Tom Nook. This is a possible reference to Japanese mythology, in which the tanuki and kitsune are traditionally rivals, however Tom Nook never mentions Redd, and all of Redd's comments about Tom are indirect. A sly figure, Redd sets up camp on a random weekday in front of the town hall in ''Wild World'' or in a random place in town in Animal Crossing. Oftentimes sells common furniture at high costs, but he may sell rare furniture that Tom Nook does not sell at all. He is one of the only sources for purchasing paintings, however he regularly sells forged paintings which must be identified by Blathers or Tom Nook. In ''Wild World'', Redd will only sell items to members, and requires that the player say a password to view his shop. After paying a membership fee of 3,000 Bells to Redd, characters may purchase items and Redd will then send them letters containing the weekly password.
Due to his species and the spelling of his name, Crazy Redd possibly may partly be an injoke of comedian Redd Foxx, who played grouchy salvage dealer Sanford in US comedy ''Sanford and Son''. Crazy Redd has a cameo appearance in the background of the stage Smashville in the upcoming game ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl''.

Don Resetti

''Appearances: AC''
'Don Resetti' is the relaxed, calmer brother of Mr. Resetti, who apologizes for the rudeness of his brother. On his Animal Crossing-e card, he states that his family gets its name because they come from a long line of resetters. Like his brother, Don also works for the ''Reset Intervention Bureau'' but little else is disclosed about him and he only ever appears once.

Dr. Shrunk

''Appearances: WW''
'Dr. Shrunk' is an axolotl psychologist who randomly appears in town and teaches the player emotional outbursts that can be used for player-to-player communication. He has a side career as a comedian, however a running joke when you talk to him is the fact that many audiences do not think highly of his jokes. The first time you meet him, the player always learns shyness, however once seen again the player can learn many different types of expression which a player can decide from. He as made an cameo in the Smashville stage in ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl''.

Gracie

''Appearances: AC, WW''
'Gracie' is a fashion-conscious, snobbish, and snooty giraffe, who is a world-class fashion designer and challenges the player to wash her car in ''Animal Crossing'' and to a quiz in ''Wild World''. Gracie rewards successful players with otherwise-unobtainable clothing items. In ''Wild World'', Gracie may give the player a 'Fashionista Badge' after examining his or her clothing, and also sells special pieces of clothing at variable prices if the player continues to speak to her. Depending on the player's results, they will get a certificate with a personal comment and a sometimes rare, but likely worthless shirt. Gracie and her car make a cameo in ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'' in the Smashville area.

Gulliver

''Appearances: AC, WW''
'Gulliver' is a befuddled seagull who gives the player rare items from around the world. In ''Animal Crossing'', a sailor-suited Gulliver washes up on the beach, telling stories about a shipwreck. In ''Wild World'', Gulliver is an Astronaut and flies through the town in a UFO that can be shot down with a slingshot, which then tasks the player to recover the parts of his ship and reassemble it to receive a reward. His name is in reference to ''Gulliver's Travels''.

Jack

''Appearances: AC''
'Jack' is a ghost character who appears solely in ''Animal Crossing'' on Halloween night. All villagers are dressed in similar fashion to Jack on the night and chases the player. If caught, they demand candy and if they do not receive it then they curse the player's clothes and furniture. Once found, Jack requests candy in exchange for Halloween themed furniture.

Jingle

''Appearances: AC''
'Jingle' is a reindeer. His obligation is to come to visit the player's town every Christmas Eve to deliver presents to all the good boys and girls (coal to all those bad). Jingle brings everyone in your town a gift for Christmas and will reward the player with Jingle themed furniture if they have been a good player. There is an exploit that allows the player to receive more gifts by simply changing their clothes, causing Jingle to mistake the player for another person.

Kapp'n

''Appearances: AC, WW''
'Kapp'n' is a turtle and a sea captain who specialises in taxiing people. In ''Animal Crossing'', he ferries the player by rowboat to Animal Island, a special Island area accessed by connecting a Game Boy Advance to the Nintendo GameCube and in ''Wild World'', he is a taxi driver and drives new players to the town, asking a handful of introductory questions that eventually lead to the player's appearance. He is incorrectly described as a parrot in the official strategy guide. At random times, he can be seen at the Roost. He is a kappa, as reflected by his name based on the kappa of Japanese mythology.

Katie and Katlin

''Appearances: WW''
Katie is a young kitten who may randomly appear in the player's town, lost and crying until she is taken to the town gate to meet her mother, Kaitlin. Kaitlin rewards the player for her return with rare items. Kaitlin often blames herself when she loses Katie. Kaite makes an cameo in the Smashville stage in ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl''

Katrina

Katrina is a cat fortune teller who will appear in the town on a random day. The player can have his fortune told for 50 bells in the Gamecube version of Animal Crossing, or 100 in Wild World. Katrina gives the fortune in a cryptic manner, but it is always good or bad. Bad fortune causes the player to occasionally trip and fall, as well as have less good chances of finding rare items, whereas with good fortune, the player is more likely to find rare items. For a much larger sum, Katrina also offers to cleanse the player's spirit, removing the ill effects of a bad fortune.

K.K. Slider

''Appearances: AC, WW''
K. K. as he appears in ''Brawl''.

'K.K. Slider', also known as 'Totakeke', is a canine guitarist and musician who performs in town every Saturday night. K.K. has large collection of songs in many different musical styles, and gives them out to the player in exchange for simply listening to his performances (which also double as the game credits), as he strongly believes that charging a price for music is wrong and that music should be free. In ''Animal Crossing'' K.K. plays in front of the Train Station, while in ''Wild World'' he plays at The Roost café underneath the town Museum. He is based off of Kazumi Totaka, and the request-only "K.K. Song" is based off of Totaka's Song. K.K. plays other songs solely on requests. In ''Wild World'' some songs do not have to be requested. He has a cameo appearance in ''Super Smash Bros. Melee'' as a trophy and performs in the "Smashville" stage in ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'' at 8:00 pm on Saturdays, as well as having one of his songs, "Go K.K. Rider!" be the theme for the "Smashville" stage.

Lyle

''Appearances: WW''
'Lyle' is a weasel insurance agent with a shady reputation who visits every Saturday, requesting the player to fill out a questionnaire. He sells insurance against fake paintings, accidental falls, spider bites, mosquito bites, and scorpion and bee stings. It is somewhat implied that Lyle is working with Crazy Redd. One can even tell Lyle what day of the week Crazy Redd should appear each week.
Sometimes in everyday conversation, villagers mention that the insurance is a scam to get money and the fact that he is a weasel suggests that he possibly does scam the player, due to the weasel being an untrustworthy animal.

Mabel Able

''Appearances: AC, WW''
'Mabel Able' is the hedgehog[1] manager of the Able Sisters' shop. She allows visitors to create designs and put them on display. After a design is put on display, villagers might wear them on their clothing. In Wild World, she sells regular clothing, accessories, and headgear and will even purchase clothes from characters.

Mr. Racketti

''Appearances: AC''
'Mr. Racketti' is a mole, who plays the part of the town groundhog when the player's town celebrates Groundhog Day. Many villagers and even the mayor question the reason they use a mole instead of a real groundhog and it is often erroneously implied by players that Mr. Resetti is the mole during this event, Racketti's personality is also much more relaxed than that of Resetti's.

Mr. Resetti

''Appearances: AC, WW''
'Sonny Resetti', more commonly referred to as 'Mr. Resetti' is a short-tempered mole who appears if the player turns off the game without saving. He appears outside the player's house the next time the game is started and lectures the player about turning off without saving, becoming increasingly aggravated and enraged the more times the player fails to save the game. Occasionally he will punish the player in addition to his usual lecture, often making them write out apologies and taunting the player. Resetti makes small cameo appearances at The Roost café in ''Animal Crossing: Wild World''. Resetti also features a mohawk in the anime movie of the game. Apparently, he works for the ''Reset Intervention Bureau'' and has a brother, Don, and a cousin called Vicious Vole Vinnie.
If the DS runs out of charge and turns off he will also come just the same. A trophy depicting him was featured in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Pascal

''Appearances: WW''
'Pascal' is a wandering red sea otter. Taking on the role of Gulliver from ''Animal Crossing'', Pascal is occasionally found washed up on the beach. If the player wakes Pascal and talks to him he gives out nautical themed items and if given a Scallop seashell, gives away a golden axe. Supposedly, the name Pascal is reference to Pascal Blanché, a French-Canadian art director working at Ubisoft's Montréal studio. His style was said to have influenced the art direction and vivid colors seen in the ''Animal Crossing'' world.
Sometimes in everyday conversation cranky residents say he was the star of his soccer team until he was hit in the head with a soccer ball, making him the philosopher that he is.

Pelly

''Appearances: AC, WW''
'Pelly' is a white pelican, the younger sister of Phyllis. In ''Animal Crossing'' she works at the post office and in ''Wild World'' she works at the Town Hall but only before 7:00. It is implied that Pelly has a romantic relationship with Pete, a pelican postman. In ''Wild World'' Pelly may appear depressed, and if the player speaks to her, she talks about Pete. Pelly is very kind and courteous to the player, unlike her sister. Occasionally, posts on the Bulletin Board will appear titled "Talking to Myself". Many believe that the author is Pelly, due to obvious signs in what she writes. On a male villager's birthday, she writes a little message on the bulletin board, asking them to take care and stay sweet.

Pete

''Appearances: AC, WW''
'Pete' is a white pelican postman seen around 9:00 a.m. or 5:00 p.m. making his deliveries in the sky. In ''Animal Crossing'', Pete can be found making deliveries to the player's house or at the ''bulletin board'', in which they may engage in conversation. In ''Wild World'', Pete can be shot down from the sky using a slingshot. If the player is playing as a female character and uses the slingshot to shoot Pete down several times, a concerned Pelly sends a letter asking the player to stop. Pete can also be seen rising into the sky after the player gives five letters to the post office to be delivered and he has a romantic interest in fellow mail worker Pelly. He makes an cameo in ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'' where he sometimes flies around in the Smashville stage.

Phyllis

''Appearances: AC, WW''
'Phyllis' is a purple pelican, the elder sister of Pelly, and the nighttime clerk at the post office (''Animal Crossing'') or Town Hall (''Wild World''). Unlike Pelly, Phyllis is rude and usually mutters unpleasant things under her breath like grumbling about missing her soaps or groaning about a customer. Phyllis, like her sister, sometimes stops by The Roost café for some coffee before work, where she usually complains about the coffee being too bitter, or wishes she wouldn't have to go to work, and hoping Pelly could replace her at the night shift. Villagers in ''Wild World'' mention that it's rumored that Phyllis is very sweet and caring to Pelly, and that her mean attitude is merely an act. Phyllis makes a cameo appearance in ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'' in the Smashville stage.

Porter

''Appearances: AC''
'Porter' is a monkey who works as the porter at the train station in ''Animal Crossing''. He assists the player in visiting other towns and also welcomes the player to town when they first begin the game. Sometimes in ''Wild World'', lazy villagers sometimes say that there was a monkey at a train station in their childhood town.

Rover

''Appearances: AC, WW''
'Rover' is the first non-player character to appear in the ''Animal Crossing'' games. Contrary to what his name might suggest, Rover is a cat and not a dog. He is called Rover because he is a world traveller who roams around. Rover is actually a relatively minor character. In ''Animal Crossing'', Rover appears at the very beginning of the game as a passenger on a train who asks for the time and asks the player a series of questions which determine their appearance, gender, and hairstyle. He also arranges for the character's lodging, setting them up with a house from Tom Nook and appears on the train when a player is traveling to another town. In the ''Wild World'', Rover makes brief and humorous cameo appearances at the Roost cafe and operates Contact Mode, which allows players to receive anonymous "bottle mail". He also will appear as a cameo in ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'' in the stage Smashville.

Sable Able

''Appearances: AC, WW''
'Sable Able', the elder of the two Able sisters, is very shy and just sits at a table and sews. If one talks to her every day for 14 days straight, Sable will open up and tell the player interesting stories about the sisters's childhood.[2] According to these conversations, Sable is 10 years older than Mable, was her surrogate "parent" or guardian because the sisters' parents died at a young age, and has a dislike of city folk. She tried her best to let Mable have a good life. She has a secret crush on Tom Nook, hinting that they have been friends since childhood. And she also makes the designs you buy from the store. It is proven in Wild World, that Sable's dream is to fill the player's town with cute clothing.

Saharah

''Appearances: AC, WW''
'Saharah' is a camel who randomly visits town to sell rare and exotic carpets and in ''Wild World'', wallpaper as well. In ''Animal Crossing'' she exchanges carpets for an existing carpet along with some money. In ''Wild World'' she delivers both carpets and wallpapers in exchange for the completion of errands. Saharah is named after the Sahara desert. In ''Animal Crossing'' she speaks in a somewhat broken English, while in ''Wild World'' her speech has greatly improved. She makes a cameo appearnce in the Smashville arena of ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl''.

Sow Joan

''Appearances: AC, WW''
'Sow Joan' is a boar trader who visits to the player's town on Sundays to sell turnips. In ''Animal Crossing'' she is also seen sleeping on the train when the player creates a new character or travels between towns. Joan sells turnips for a certain price per turnip, which can then be sold to Tom Nook for a variable price. However, the turnips go bad within a week or when a player visits another town with a different month and sometimes, ants or a cockroach can be found on rotten turnips. This system, called the "Stalk Market", is a parody of the real-life stock market. In the same vein Sow Joan's name is a pun on the DOW Jones index. In ''Wild World'', Joan also sells red turnip seeds which can be planted, cared for, and then sold to Tom Nook for a large quantity of bells. She also makes a cameo apperance in the Smashville stage of the upcoming game ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl''.

Tom Nook

''Appearances: AC, WW''
Tom Nook

'Tom Nook' is a raccoon businessman who owns the main shop in your town and also deals in real estate. He also is the postal service for inter-town mail. He is perhaps the most recognisable character of the series, even making cameos in other games and appearing as a trophy in ''Super Smash Bros. Melee''. In both Animal Crossing games, he sells wallpaper, flooring, furniture and tools. Nook also upgrades his shop after the player makes several transactions with him. He hires 'Timmy and Tommy', two raccoons that are believed to be related but are actually not , to help work at his store when upgraded to its final incarnation; a large department store called Nookington's. In the Japanese version of the games Nook is actually a Tanuki and indeed his name, Tom Nook sounds similar to Tanuki and his store's logo is that of the mythical leaf that Tanuki are said to be able to change objects into. The furniture Tom peddles also transforms into green leaves in a similar fashion for portability. He will appear in the background of the stage Smashville in ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl''. To see Nook in Palamas holding a Teddy bear, take a golden shovel, hit the back of Nookingtons three times and the front twice. Go in at night and enjoy that cute sight! :)

Tortimer

''Appearances: AC, WW''
'Tortimer' is the town mayor in both Animal Crossing games. An elderly turtle, Tortimer spends much of the time asleep in the town hall or wandering near the wishing well, although he leaves his normal location when certain special events occur in the town. He is the source of numerous special event and holiday-themed items for the player. Tortimer's name is a combination of "tortoise" and "timer", a slang term for a senior citizen, as in "old timer". During the acorn festival, he "secretly" changes his identity to Cornimer. Tortimer can also be found in the background of Smashville in ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'', along with other "Animal Crossing" characters.

Wendell

''Appearances: AC, WW''
'Wendell' is a walrus from the Animal Crossing games. Wendell is a wallpaper designer and starving artist and he will trade his Wallpaper (''Animal Crossing'') or patterns (''Wild World'') with the player in exchange for fish among other edibles. In ''Wild World'', if one of his various patterns are displayed for viewing at the Able Sisters' shop, Mabel will mention that it was created by "Wendell from Tuskany", a portmaneau of tusk, referring to the animal, and the city, Tuscany. If you give Wendell a red turnip in ''Wild World'', he will give you a Country Guitar or a Turban, which begins a trading sequence, which ultimately leads to the acquisition of the Golden Axe or one of a number of other rare items, depending on what item the player receives.

Wisp

''Appearances: AC''
'Wisp' is a mysterious ghost that wanders around town in the middle of the night. At first he appears invisible, but once found he will appear properly. He will task the player to catch five other spirits using their net. If this task is completed, he rewards them by either giving them a gift, painting their roof any particular color, or ridding the town of all weeds in which the player can decide from.
