Course
The 2007 course is described as relatively hilly. Running great
Bill Rodgers once said "''any marathon worth its salt has a few hills. Little Rock is a little salty.''" The largest hill is found early in the race with a number of smaller hills throughout. The course can be broken down into four sections. Section 1 (miles 1-7) is relatively flat with a couple of rolling hills. Section 2 (miles 8-16) has a gradual increase in elevation of 100 ft over a two-mile stretch. Section 3 (miles 16-24) has a one-mile down hill (mile 17-18 – roughly 200ft), but mostly is long flat roads. The last two miles have two short hills that could be challenge depending on the athlete’s ability, and the finish is down-hill. The elevation change for the entire course is as follows:
★ Start = 340 feet above sea level
★ Finish = 280 feet above sea level
★ Highest point = 490 feet above sea level
★ Lowest point = 237 feet above sea level
