(Redirected from Liturgical latinisation)'Liturgical Latinisation' is the process by which the
liturgical practices of the Churches of
Eastern Christianity (particularly the
Eastern Catholic Churches, but also those of the
Eastern Orthodox Churches and the
Oriental Orthodox Churches) are changed to resemble more closely the practices of the
Roman Catholic Church. Latinisation is a contentious issue in many churches, and has been responsible for various
schisms.
In the Catholic Church, liturgical latinisation is being undone in accord with the Vatican II decree,
Orientalium Ecclesiarum which mandates that eastern practices shall not be set aside in favor of western ones.
