LIVERPOOL RAILWAY STATION, SYDNEY
'Liverpool railway station' is a railway station in the south-western suburbs of Sydney and is situated on the Main South Line. It is served by Cityrail trains of the South, Bankstown, Cumberland and Inner West lines[1]. It is a busy intermediate terminus and transport interchange hub. The town of Liverpool on the Georges River is one of the earliest settlements of the colony of New South Wales. Liverpool station is wheelchair accessible as it has a lift to all platforms, the T-Way bus terminus and a lift to the street. Platform 1 has a ramp to the street. This therefore qualifies Liverpool station for Easy Access.

Platforms
The station has three platforms. Platforms 1 and 2 serve the South and Cumberland lines, and platform 3 serves as a terminus for some Bankstown and Inner West line trains. Liverpool railway station has a busy bus station attached to it. This acts as a hub for buses serving the local area, and also as the terminus of the T-Way which provides bus services to Parramatta operating mostly on a dedicated bus roadway. The T-Way opened in 2003. A fourth platform is planned as part of the Clearways Project [2].
History
The station opened in 1856 and was an early terminus of the South line[3]. Immediately north of Liverpool station, a former branch line crossed the Georges River and entered the Holsworthy military base. The pylons for the bridge over the river have been reused to provide a pedestrian walkway. In 1965, one person was killed and three were injured when a freight train collided with a stationary electric passenger train at Liverpool station[4]. In 2000, the station underwent a major 'easy access' upgrade with the provision of passenger lifts to the platforms, a new passenger concourse, toilets and a refurbishment of the heritage building on the 'Up' platform.[5]
