LLANRUMNEY

'Llanrumney' (Welsh ''Llanrhymni'': ''llan'' parish + Rhymney River) is a district of the city of Cardiff, Wales.
As it lies east of the Rhymney, it is geographically located in the traditional county of Monmouthshire, whereas most of the city to the west of the river, is in Glamorgan.
The area hosts Llanrumney Hall, believed to have been the home of the pirate Captain Henry Morgan born in 1635. Captain Morgan became the Governor of Jamaica and had a brand of rum named after him. Most of the grounds of Llanrumney Hall were compulsorily purchased by the local authority in the 1950s in order to build a large estate of Council-owned houses.
The estate, which is surrounded by the areas of St Mellons, Trowbridge and many other estates, has several parades of shops, a large leisure centre, a secondary school (Llanrumney High School) and a number of primary schools, including

The electoral ward of Llanrumney falls within the parliamentary constituency of Cardiff South and Penarth. It is bounded by the wards of Pontprennau & Old St. Mellons to the north, Rumney to the south, Penylan to the southwest, and Pentwyn to the west.
