(Redirected from Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr.)
Lew Rockwell
'Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr.' (born
14 October 1944,
Boston), more commonly known as 'Lew Rockwell', is an
American libertarian political commentator and
activist.
Rockwell is the founder and President of the
Ludwig von Mises Institute in
Auburn, Alabama, Vice President of the
Center for Libertarian Studies in
Burlingame, California, and publisher of the political
weblog LewRockwell.com. Rockwell was closely associated with his teacher and colleague
Murray Rothbard until Rothbard's death in 1995, and Rockwell's political
ideology, like that of Rothbard in his later years, combines an
anarcho-capitalist form of
paleolibertarianism with
cultural conservatism and the
Austrian School of economics. Rockwell also espouses the political concepts of
federalism,
secession, and political
decentralization. Rockwell is a
Roman Catholic. He served as
Ron Paul's congressional chief of staff between 1978 and 1982.
[1]
He is the author of ''Speaking of Liberty'', an anthology of his editorials (originally published on his web site) and transcripts from some of his speaking engagements. Rockwell is also publisher, along with the
Mises Institute, of the ''
Journal of Libertarian Studies''.
LewRockwell.com
Lew Rockwell's eponymous web site features a selection of articles, including opposition to war and
imperialism, and occasional articles criticizing the presidency of
Abraham Lincoln.
[2]The site also includes essays against the United States's participation in the
Second World War[3], speculation about an end of the United States as a cohesive union
[4], and accusations that
fascism and socialism alike threaten the Western world as states and leaders centralize their power.
[5] These writings are sometimes controversial, and have brought on harsh criticism from both the political left and right.
