LOLO PASS (IDAHO-MONTANA)
'Lolo Pass' (el. ) is a high mountain pass in the northern Rocky Mountains located on the border between the U.S. states of Montana and Idaho approximately WSW of Missoula, Montana.
It is famous as the location where the Lewis and Clark Expedition crossed the summit of the Bitteroot Range via the Lolo Trail on the outward and return journeys in 1805-06.
U.S. Highway 12 crosses the pass, belatedly completed in the early 1960s. Lolo Hot Springs is 7 miles east of the pass. The first services in Idaho are in Lowell, 77 miles (123 km) to the west.
