LONDON ELECTRICITY BOARD
The 'London Electricity Board' was the public sector utility company responsible for electricity generation and electrical infrastructure maintenance prior to 1990. It was shortened to 'LEB' in its green and blue logo, consisting of the three letters.
Prior to 1947, the responsibility for these services had been with numerous private companies. For full details, see the list of pre-nationalisation UK electric power companies.
In 1990, the industry was once again put into the private sector and the body responsible for London's electricity infrastructure became London Electricity Plc, later named London Energy. Following a merger it is now part of EDF Energy.
